The Blood of Jesus

Let’s Talk About Blood.
Soul-Saving Blood.

Have you been to Jesus for the cleansing power?
Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?

In order to become a child of God, you must:

  1. repent of your sins [1]
  2. believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross for your sins and that He rose the third day
  3. confess the Lord Jesus

What exactly happened on that cross almost 2,000 years ago? Jesus shed His blood and that blood paid for the sins of all mankind [2]. Let’s talk about blood. The Blood of Jesus.

. . . . . . . . . . .When we turn back to the Old Testament of the Bible, we see that after sin entered into the world, God required the blood sacrifice of animals for the atonement of sins.

Leviticus 17:11, For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.Leviticus 4:3-5 If the priest that is anointed do sin…then let him bring for his sin, which he hath sinned, a young bullock without blemish unto the LORD for a sin offering….he shall… lay his hand upon the bullock’s head, and kill the bullock before the LORD. And the priest that is anointed shall take of the bullock’s blood, and bring it to the tabernacle of the congregation

But the blood of the animals still couldn’t do the trick. The Israelites were still unfaithful to their God as evidenced by their awhoring after other gods. A better sacrifice was needed.

Hebrews 10:4 For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.

God promised His people, the Jewish people, a new covenant about 600 years before the coming of Christ. We will see that this covenant would also require blood.

Jeremiah 31:31 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:
31:34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.

In the Bible, we have the Old Testament (or Hebrew Scriptures) and the New Testament. Both were ushered in by blood. The Old Testament came by the blood of animals. The New Testament by the blood of Jesus Christ.

Old TestamentExodus 24:8 And Moses took the blood, and sprinkled it on the people, and said, Behold the blood of the covenant, which the LORD hath made with you concerning all these words.

Hebrews 9:18-20 Whereupon neither the first testament was dedicated without blood.

For when Moses had spoken every precept to all the people according to the law, he took the blood of calves and of goats, with water, and scarlet wool, and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book, and all the people,

Saying, This is the blood of the testament which God hath enjoined unto you.

New Testament

Matthew 26:28 For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

–Jesus Christ

The animal sacrifices of the Old Testament were only a picture of the ultimate sacrifice. When Jesus Christ went to the cross almost 2,000 years ago, He was the ULTIMATE sacrifice. A bloody sacrifice indeed.

  • His skin was whipped off,
  • His beard was torn out of his cheeks,
  • His head pierced with thorns,
  • His face beaten to a pulp. He was unrecognizable. The Bible says He was more marred than ANY man.
  • His hands and feet were nailed through with thick spikes,
  • His side pierced with a spear after He died.

The sacrifice of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, completely abolished the system of animal sacrifice forever. The animal sacrifices of the Old Testament were only a picture, a figure, of the true sacrifice of Jesus Christ. Their blood was only a figure of the true blood that would be shed thousands of years later on a cross outside the city of Jeruselem. The animal sacrifices were…

Hebrews 9:9 …a figure for the time then present, in which were offered both gifts and sacrifices, that could not make him that did the service perfect, as pertaining to the conscience…9:11 But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building;

9:12 Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.

9:13 For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh:

9:14 How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

The blood of animals had to be shed over and over but the blood of Jesus was shed only one time. The Catholic religion does not understand this and contends that the blood is shed over and over again in the mass, but the Bible says something different:

Hebrews 10:12, …after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God.Hebrews 7:27 …this he did once, when he offered up himself.

Hebrews 9:28 …Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many…

Hebrews 10:10 By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

Hebrews 10:14 For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.

The blood of Jesus is powerful. It is a saving, healing blood. Look at what the blood has done:

What the blood
of Jesus does
Bible Reference
The blood pays for our sins so we don’t go to hell. Matthew 26:28 For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.
The blood bought us. [3] Acts 20:28 …feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.1 Corinthians 6:20, 7:23 …ye are bought with a price…
The blood justifies us before a holy God. 5:9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him..
The blood redeems us. Ephesians 1:7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace.Colossians 1:14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:

Hebrews 9:12 Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.

The blood brought us Gentiles into a relationship with God that we didn’t have before. Ephesians 2:11-16 … ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh …without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:But now in Christ Jesus…are made nigh by the blood of Christ.

For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us;

Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;

And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby.

The blood brought Jew and Gentile (regardless of race or nationality) into a right relationship with God. Revelation 5:9 And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation.
The blood brought peace. 1:20 And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.
The blood purges our consciences from dead works. Hebrews 9:14 How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?
The blood lets us enter
into the holiest place
before the throne of God.
10:19 Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus.
The blood forges an everlasting covenant between the believer and God. Hebrews 13:20 Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant,
The blood sanctifies us. Hebrews 10:29…the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified…
The blood cleanses us from all sin. 1 John 1:7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
The blood washes away our sins. Revelation 1:5 And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,
The blood causes us to overcome this old wicked world. Revelation 12:11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

Be washed in that cleansing, crimson tide. The blood of Jesus.

[1] I’m not talking a mental assent to the things of Christ. I’m talking about real conviction and repentance of your sins and a commitment to Jesus Christ. Matthew 7:21

[2] The blood paid for the sins of all but not all will be saved because many will reject the free gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. 1 John 2:2, John 8:24

Have my blogs strengthened your faith in your false religon?

Have my blogs strengthened your faith in your false religion?

Adapted by Faruq al-Dhimmi of Answering Islam .

Has your faith in your false religion (Wordwide Church of God, Ronald Weinland, Buddhism, Atheism, Islam, Satanism, etc.) been strengthened by Christian apologetics or by reading the Bible? If so, you have reason to be concerned.

I wish it could be otherwise, but the Bible teaches that its message will have one of two effects on people: Either it will stir their hearts to faith, or it will harden them and drive them away. As the apostle Paul said in II Corinthians 2:15-16:

  • “For we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that perish. To the one we are the savour of death unto death; and to the other the savour of life unto life. And who is sufficient for these things?”

What St. Paul is saying is that the Gospel is not merely information that one can accept or dismiss. It is a living thing that draws some people near and pushes others away.

God recognizes that many people who hear His words will reject them, to their own destruction. As He told the prophet Ezekiel:

  • “But when I speak with thee, I will open thy mouth, and thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; He that heareth, let him hear; and he that forbeareth, let him forbear: for they are a rebellious house.”
    Ezekiel 3:27

Jesus Himself warned us that most people will not reach Paradise, and exhorted us in Matthew 17:13-14:

  • “Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.”

Does that mean that God’s Word is weak, or that it has failed? Not at all. For the Bible is not only a call to belief; it is a discerner, a witness, and a judge. As Hebrews 4:12 tells us:

  • “[T]he word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”

How do you respond to the Bible? Do you rejoice at its message, or do you consider it foolish and corrupt? Is it the aroma of life to you, or the smell of dead things? Either way, your heart has been laid bare – and your future has been revealed to you, unless you change.

Moreover, Jesus warns us in John 12:47-48 that this very Word will judge us on the Last Day:

  • “And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world. 12:48 He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.”

Therefore, do not think that you have defeated or nullified this Word when you or your fellow adherents reject it. I tell you, you have not defeated this Word, it has defeated you:

  • “Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe. For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom: But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness; But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God. Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.”
    I Corinthians 1:20-25

I pray that God’s blessing will be upon you as you consider this warning. May He give you eyes to see, ears to hear, that you may understand and turn and He would heal you.

The Catholic Mary

Material from http://www.jesus-is-lord.com

The Catholic Mary is a devil!

Mary, Dear friend,

Do you see anything terribly wrong with this picture? I do. This is the Catholic Mary. Look at her hands. Do you see the scars of crucifixion? That’s blasphemous and creepy. Does this bother you? Look at the caption. It says that Mary is co-redeemer (co-redemptrix) with Jesus Christ. Look again…it says she our advocate–but wait a minute. I John 2:1 says that Jesus is our advocate–

“…if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.”

The Roman Catholic Mary is a usurper.

Look again, this abominable image also says that Mary mediates/dispenses the grace of God. This is insanity when compared with the Bible. Why is light emitting from her wounds? Is she supposed to be the light of the world and power of God? Wait a minute, notice that she is pregnant. Jesus is supposedly still in her womb, a fetus totally dependent on her– meanwhile she’s all powerful! You may want to see our article “Catholics believe Jesus is a Mama’s Boy”.

Did you know that Roman Catholics call Mary the “Queen of Heaven”? Did you know that the Bible talks about the queen of heaven? It does. The queen of heaven is A PAGAN GODDESS, A DEVIL– Jeremiah 7:18 The children gather wood, and the fathers kindle the fire, and the women knead their dough, to make cakes to the QUEEN OF HEAVEN, and to pour out drink offerings unto other gods, that they may provoke me to anger.

You can also read about this devil, the queen of heaven, in Jeremiah chapter 44. In this little treatise you will see FROM CATHOLIC SOURCES that

  • they call their Mary the queen of heaven. This is not the Mary of the Bible.
  • they pray to Mary
  • they turn to Mary for help for sin
  • they believe she was born sinless just like Jesus (called the Immaculate Conception–should be “Deception”)
  • they believe she never saw physical death (called the Assumption of Mary)

these are not all of the errors that Papists expound in regards to Mary…

The Coronation of Mary

The Coronation of Mary
Queen of Heaven

The feast of the Queenship of Mary was established in 1954 by Pope Pius XII. The original date for this feast was chosen as May 31st, but was later moved to the octave day of the feast of the Assumption, August 22nd. This memorial celebrates the same event that is highlighted by the fifth glorious mystery or the Rosary.

Throughout the New Testament, Mary’s role in heaven is mentioned. Mary is alluded to as Queen in the book of Revelations [tracy’s note: that passage refers to ISRAEL NOT MARY], and throughout the Bible. It is because of Jesus close relationship with his mother that she shares in his kingship.

The Church and the faithful for have also referred to Mary as queen since the fourth century. Various songs, litanies, and prayers refer to Mary as queen. (e.g. Regina Caeli during Eastertide.) The Church has affirmed the title of Mary in modern times through documents including Lumen Gentium (…”and exalted by the Lord as Queen over all things, that she might be the more fully conformed to her Son” Lumen Gentium 59) and the papal encyclical Ad Coeli Reginam.

The title Queen is used to indicate the final state of the Virgin, seated beside her Son, the King of glory.

Queen of Heaven rejoice, alleluia
The Son whom you merited to bear alleluia
Has risen as he said alleluia
Pray for us to God alleluia
Rejoice and be glad, O Virgin Mary, alleluia!
For the Lord has truly risen alleluia

Leaflets of Faith

In a unique way, Mary co-operated by her obedience, faith, hope and burning charity in restoring supernatural life to souls. For this reason, she is a mother to us in the order of grace. Catholics, in seeking to conquer sin and increase in holiness, turn to Mary who shines forth to the Church as the model of virtues. She displays that motherly love which all, who join in the Church’s mission to humanity, should embrace and display (Lumen Gentium 60, 61, 65)

[tracy’s note: concerning the following, sometimes the queen of heaven devil may manifest. Catholics call these manifestations, “apparitions”.]–

There have been special interventions of Mary in local churches. She appeared at Fatima in Portugal in 1917 with a message of prayer and reparation for the salvation of souls. In addition to this Gospel message, the Virgin prophesied certain events in history which, some suggest, included the recent collapse of Communism. In Mexico in 1531, Our Lady of Guadalupe appeared to an Aztec peasant, Juan Diego, at which time she declared herself as “your merciful mother; to you and all inhabitants of the earth”. As proof of her visit and concern, she left her image on the cloak, the tilma, of Juan Diego which is still displayed more than four hundred years later in the Basilica near Mexico City. More importantly, her appearance was the impetus to the evangelization of Mexico. Within a few years, eight million Indians were baptized.

And after this our exile, show unto us the blessed Fruit of they womb, Jesus. O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary.

It didn’t take me long to find this information. It took me longer to format it than find it. You could spend a year looking up this goddess worship and still not be close to exploring it fully. Catholics pray to, worship, and venerate their Mary–this is not the Mary of the Bible. This is the queen of heaven spoken of in Jeremiah.

Sabbath Keeping

-Sabbath keeping-

Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holy day, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days: Which are a shadow of things to come… Colossians 2:16-17

I hear the following sentiment often–

“Nice website, but you’ve forgotten
to tell people that they must keep the Sabbath.”

What the writers are referring to is their belief that we must keep the Saturday sabbath just like the Jews did in the Old Testament. These people are dead wrong and they are out in droves. By and large they belong to a cult called Seventh Day Adventistism. Their founder is a false prophetess named Ellen White.

As with a number of other articles that I have written on this site, the one you are now reading was born out of hearing the same old false doctrine over and over–in this case, sabbath-keeping. I hear from the Seventh Day Adventists and I hear from the Christian babes who are too weak in the word to withstand their assaults. When I got up this morning, 2/22/99, it was in my mind to go ahead and write about it.

The only way to determine if something is right or wrong is by the Bible. It is our only source of truth. I cannot stress the importance of Bible reading enough. When you know the Book, people can’t fool you. You won’t be tossed about with every new wind of doctrine. You won’t be unsteady, unsure and gullible. People tell me, “What they are telling me sounds right.” Forget about sounding right! What does the Bible say, my friend? “Let God be true and EVERY man a liar.” Don’t be lazy, read the Bible. The sluggard will pay dearly.

When someone tells you some doctrine, compare it to the scriptures. Isaiah 8:20–

if they speak not according to this word,
it is because there is no light in them.

How can you know if they are speaking according to God’s word or not? You’ve got to read and study it for yourself. The best thing a Christian can do for their spiritual growth is read the word of God and obey it! If you do these two things you’ve got the best you can get as a Christian. You’ll be a strong built up soldier of the Lord Jesus Christ and you will hear from the Lord.

The commandment we are looking at is–

Exodus 20:8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.

Seventh Day Adventists will tell you that you can’t be saved if you don’t worship on Saturday which is ludicrous. They desire to live under the Mosaic Law, yet they do not perform the hundreds of ordinances that it includes. Even if they did try to live by the whole Mosaic law they would fail. If they trust it for their salvation they will go to hell. God has made only ONE provision–Jesus (see John 3:36).

The SDAs keep selected portions of the law based on the writings of their false prophetess Ellen White who supposedly got a new vision. There are no more new visions–we will be judged ONLY by what God has revealed from Genesis to Revelation. Jesus said, “…the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.” (John 12:48)

As you read through this treatise look for these points:

  • The sabbath is a symbol/shadow/type of the heavenly rest–book of Hebrews
  • It does not matter what day you worship–don’t let man judge you in sabbath days–Colossians 2:16
  • Gentiles not to be yoked down in Mosaic law–Acts 15
  • Christians met on the first day–Acts 20:7, I Corinthians 16:2
  • Jesus said the sabbath was made for man’s use, not man for sabbath–Mark 2:27
  • Galatians is for those that would be under the law
  • Sabbath keeping is the only one of the ten commandments that is not exhorted in the New Testament

I will include some excerpts from e-mails exchanged with a person coming out of Seventh Day Adventism. This person’s comments will be in italics. Also included are some relevant scriptures along with short expositions.

I read that it doesn’t matter what day we keep the Sabbath, and felt freedom for a short while and then thought about how Jesus was keeping the Sabbath still.

A couple of things:

  • Jesus was Jewish and He kept the whole law as His fathers according to the flesh did. He kept the law perfectly so He could die in our place. The law could never save anyone. In fact, it killed people–

Romans 7:9 For I was alive without the law once: but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died.

By the law came knowledge of what sin is. The law kills, it does not make alive. Without the law, no sin would be imputed. How would I know I was breaking the speed limit if there was no sign? I could not be arrested for there was no written law there. But as soon as there is a sign and I exceed its limit, I am a convicted as a lawbreaker.–

2 Corinthians 3:6 Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.

Does this mean that the law is bad?

Romans 7:7 What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet.

Let me give you an analogy. The law is like a mirror. When I wake up in the morning and look in the mirror I see that I need to comb my hair and brush my teeth. I need to wash my face. Do I then take the mirror and proceed to brush my teeth with it? Do I take the mirror and wash my face with it? No. The purpose of the mirror is to show me what kind of shape I am in. Likewise the law showed us that we look terrible spiritually. Every one of us has transgressed God’s standards. When we look at the commandments we know in our hearts that we have broken them.

But God did not just show us our filthy condition and leave it like that. In the fulness of time, God sent forth His Son Who is the answer to our sin problem. Jesus Christ is the One that does the cleaning up–the law could never clean you up. Just as a mirror cannot brush your teeth, the law cannot cleanse your spirit and make you righteous before God. Only the blood of Jesus can do that.

Galatians 3:10-13 For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse… But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith. And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them. Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree.Hebrews 9:22 And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.

1 John 1:7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

To be cleansed, you’ve got to be washed in the blood. The law can’t cleanse you. It can only condemn you and curse you.

We have all transgressed the law–that is why it was given to us, so that we would see that we were unclean and needed a Saviour. The whole purpose of Jesus’ sacrifice was to redeem us from the strict Mosaic law. THAT is the new covenant in His blood. We Christians are now free from the schoolmaster that brought us to Christ and we are now under the perfect law of liberty (James 1:25, 2:12)–we are free to do righteousness.

Galatians 3:24 Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.3:25 But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.

In Acts chapter 15 we find out about Jews who tried to make the Gentiles keep the law of Moses–

Acts 15:1 And certain men which came down from Judaea taught the brethren, and said, Except ye be circumcised after the manner of Moses, ye cannot be saved.Acts 15:5 But there rose up certain of the sect of the Pharisees which believed, saying, That it was needful to circumcise them, and to command them to keep the law of Moses.

The holy men got together to consider the idea that Gentiles should keep the law of Moses–

Acts 15:6 And the apostles and elders came together for to consider of this matter.

Peter rose up and said that even the Jews couldn’t keep the law, why yoke the Gentiles down with it?

Acts 15:7 And when there had been much disputing, Peter rose up, and said…15:10 Now therefore why tempt ye God, to put a yoke upon the neck of the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear?

15:11 But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved, even as they.

James then gave his judgment concerning what part of the law Gentiles should observe–

Acts 15:13 And after they had held their peace, James answered, saying, Men and brethren, hearken unto me…15:19 Wherefore my sentence is, that we trouble not them, which from among the Gentiles are turned to God:

15:20 But that we write unto them, that they abstain from pollutions of idols, and from fornication, and from things strangled, and from blood.

The holy men then wrote letters of instruction–

Acts 15:23 And they wrote letters by them after this manner; The apostles and elders and brethren send greeting unto the brethren which are of the Gentiles in Antioch and Syria and Cilicia.15:24 Forasmuch as we have heard, that certain which went out from us have troubled you with words, subverting your souls, saying, Ye must be circumcised, and keep the law: to whom we gave no such commandment:

    15:28 For it seemed good to the Holy Ghost, and to us, to lay upon you no greater burden than these necessary things;

15:29 That ye abstain from meats offered to idols, and from blood, and from things strangled, and from fornication: from which if ye keep yourselves, ye shall do well. Fare ye well.

To think about: What four things were Gentiles commanded to keep from the law? If the sabbath is so important, why didn’t they mention it? I Cor. 6:9 and Revelation 21:8 talk about who will not inherit the kingdom of God…non-sabbath keepers are not mentioned. In fact there is no condemnation in the NT of people who do not keep a Saturday sabbath. Read Romans 14 and I Corinthians 8 to learn about Christian liberty. updatedThe following table shows how nine of the ten commandments are exhorted in the New Testament. The only one that is not exhorted AT ALL is the fourth commandment, “Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.” Search the scriptures for yourself and see.

New Testament Exhortation The Ten
First CommandmentMatthew 4:10 …Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

1 John 5:21 Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen.

First CommandmentI am the LORD thy God…Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
Second CommandmentRevelation 9:20 …they should not worship devils, and idols of gold, and silver, and brass, and stone, and of wood: which neither can see, nor hear, nor walk:

10:7 Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play. 10:14 Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry.

Romans 2:22 …thou that abhorrest idols, dost thou commit sacrilege?

Romans 1:23 And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.

Galatians 5:19-21 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these… Idolatry…as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

Third CommandmentThou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain.
Fourth CommandmentThere is no commandment exhorting sabbath keeping in the ENTIRE New Testament. Rather, (1) we find that we are to let no man judge us when it comes to sabbath days (Col. 2:16), (2) we find Jesus saying the sabbath was made for man, not man for the sabbath (Mark 2:27), and (3) we find that the seventh day sabbath is a shadow of the true, heavenly rest (Hebrews 4:4-4:11). Fourth CommandmentRemember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
Fifth CommandmentEphesians 6:2 Honour thy father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise; Fifth CommandmentHonor thy father and thy mother.
Sixth CommandmentRevelation 21:8 …murderers…shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

Galatians 5:19-21 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these…murders…they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

1 Peter 4:15 But let none of you suffer as a murderer,

Sixth CommandmentThou shalt not kill.
Seventh CommandmentGalatians 5:19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery…

Romans 2:22 Thou that sayest a man should not commit adultery, dost thou commit adultery?…

13:9 For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery…

Seventh CommandmentThou shalt not commit adultery.
Eighth Commandment1 Peter 4:15 But let none of you suffer as a…thief…

Ephesians 4:28 Let him that stole steal no more…

Romans 13:9 …Thou shalt not steal…

Romans 2:21 …thou that preachest a man should not steal, dost thou steal?

Eighth CommandmentThou shalt not steal.
Ninth CommandmentRevelation 21:8 …all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

Revelation 22:15 For without are…whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.

1 Timothy 1:9-10 Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for… liars…and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine;

Ninth CommandmentThou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.
Tenth CommandmentEphesians 5:5 For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.

Colossians 3:5 Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry Romans

Romans 1:29 Being filled with all unrighteousness… covetousness…

Romans 7:7 …I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet.

Romans 13:9 …Thou shalt not covet…

I Corinthians 5:11 But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be ..covetous…with such an one no not to eat.

I Corinthians 6:10 Nor thieves, nor covetous…shall inherit the kingdom of God.

1 Timothy 3:2-3 A bishop then must be blameless…not covetous;

2 Timothy

2 Timothy 3:2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous…

Hebrews 13:5 Let your conversation be without covetousness…

Tenth CommandmentThou shalt not covet.
    • He is a better sacrifice than animals (9:23-10:12)
    • He is a better Priest than the Levitical priesthood (6:20-7:24)
    • He is better than Moses (3:3)
    • He is came by a better tabernacle (9:11)
    • He brings a better covenant. (8:6, 7:19)
    • He offers better promises (8:6)
    • He offers a better country (that is, an heavenly Heb 11:16)
    • He offers a better sabbath (4:4-4:11)
    • He is better than the angels (1:4)
  • For those that would understand the true meaning of the Old Testament ordinances, feast days, sabbath days, etc. there is the book of Hebrews. It contrasts the old covenant with the new and shows us how the old was simply a shadow of heavenly things. Hebrews shows the superiority of Jesus Christ in every aspect and how His sacrifice did away with sundry washings, etc. Jesus is better in every way–

The whole of the Christian life is about Jesus Who is the Best. Our true sabbath, our true rest, comes when we pass to the other side.

  • The religious people said that Jesus’ disciples broke the sabbath by picking corn on the sabbath day. Jesus responded by saying that man was not made for the sabbath, the sabbath was made for man. In other words, God made the sabbath so that we could rest, not so we could be under a whip to observe it.

Mark 2:24 And the Pharisees said unto him, Behold, why do they on the sabbath day that which is not lawful?2:27 And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath:

2:28 Therefore the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath.

I have read what the SDA’s say about the scripture too. They are so good at covering the beliefs. I just learned about the new covenant and the freedom last week.

Glory to God. May you grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ.

When I read Matthew 11:28,29,30 I stopped and said to myself. ” his yoke is easy and his burden is light. I want to know more.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaamen! These are some of my favorite verses. We are not all yoked down by the divers ordinances, we are come into a living breathing relationship with Jesus Christ. We love Him and show that love by serving Him, He loves us and helps us as we walk this pilgrim way.

I can see I have to leave the church now. How does one leave a Sabbath that I have been keeping.

If you want to observe Saturday as your day of rest, go ahead. It is not a crime. But you must realize that every Bible believing church that I know of goes to church on Sunday so you will probably have to change the day that you worship. In time, as you grow in knowledge (start by reading the book of Galatians), you will see that the Sabbath was only a shadow or a figure or example of our heavenly rest that we will enter into one day (read the book of Hebrews).

The SDA believe that since the Pope wrote out a 46 page letter on keeping the Sabbath last year that the Sunday laws will go into effect on the Dawn of this next new years . I have read part of the popes letter, and since this is one of the things that is coming true it is scary to quit keeping the Sabbath.

As I said before my friend, forget about what man says and look at what the Bible says! Jesus said, “…the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.” (John 12:48) He didn’t tell us to listen to what men say outside of the Bible. He said “Sanctify them with thy truth THY WORD IS TRUTH.” The Bible says “Let God be true and every man a liar.” Believe the Bible and make no provision for the influence of man’s doctrine.

Why does God say “remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy” Ex 20:8 ?

The sabbath was given to man so that he would get some rest from his labors and worship God. But more importantly than our physical rest, it symbolizes when we leave our labors here on earth and enter into our heavenly rest. Read the book of Hebrews which opens up the meaning of the entire Old Testament.

Another writer asked me a question about sabbath keeping and then said, “In Romans 14:5-6, Gal.4:10-11 and Col. 2:16-17 Paul had splendid opportunities to the tell the gentiles to always keep God’ s Sabbath and His ordained, appointed feasts but he did not.”

I responded, “The scriptures you list answer your question completely. Let’s take Colossians 2:16 for example, ‘LET NO MAN THEREFORE JUDGE YOU in meat, or in drink, or IN RESPECT OF AN HOLYDAY, or of the new moon, OR OF THE SABBATH DAYS.'” Romans 14 and I Corinthians 8 are excellent expositions of Christian liberty. I have freedom, bless God.”

I do indeed have respect to the concept of the sabbath and on Sunday, I rarely do more than go to church, cook, and relax. Nevertheless, the sabbath was made for man, not man for the sabbath. I have some flexibility. Jesus is about freedom not about being yoked up to a 10,000 pound wagon.

Abortion kills by torture

These signs
tell the TRUTH about abortion, that you
won’t see on the 6:00 News…
This sign shows the body of a 21 week old preborn baby, killed by a D&C abortion.

This powerful sign illustrates the horrible similarity between Hitler’s murder of 6 million Jews, and America’s murder of over 30 million pre-born babies since 1973. Let your community know about AMERICA’s holocaust, by showing them the truth about this horror.

This sign features the severed head of a preborn baby girl, aborted in the third tri-mester of her mother’s pregnancy. When abortion advocates talk about “FREEDOM OF CHOICE”, this is the result… the grusome death of a precious child.
This giant sign celebrates God’s wonderful gift of human life, by displaying the smiling face of a precious little boy. It stands in stark contrast to the horror of abortion, and appeals to the hearts of those who might be contemplating abortion.
This shocking sign shows a baby killed by a first-trimester D&C abortion. His humanity speaks for itself.
8th WEEK
This tall sign illustrates a living preborn baby at just 8 weeks from conception.
These dear little girls holding hands will appeal to even the hardest heart.
Like our other LIFE signs, this precious baby boy will remind mothers what they have to loose if they choose abortion. Life really is a gift from God.
Here’s a sign that tells the TRUTH about Planned Parenthood.

Here’s a sign that

also tells the TRUTH about Planned Parenthood.

Many of your neighbors still do not know that PP kills more children than any other organization in America. Let them know!

Good works and Saving Faith

“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works , lest any man should should boast” (Eph. 2:8, 9). Works have nothing to do with salvation, but we are saved to do good works! ” For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them” (Eph. 2 :10) .
Our passport to Heaven is having Christ as our Savior, but our reward in Heaven is which for how we live for Him. Saving Faith always produces good works. ” They which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works” ( Titus 3:8). We are justified before God by faith in Christ; we are justified before man by how we live. ” Faith without works is dead” (James 2:14). “What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can [that kind of] faith save him?” (James 2 :14).
Saving faith must produce fruit. Good works are an outward sign to others that we are in Christ. “By their fruits ye shall know them” (Matt. 7:20). Faith without works is not saving faith ; it is a dead profession of salvation, not real possession of the Savior.
In Summary :
Faith in Christ is the root; works are the fruit
Faithful Christian = good fruitfulness for Christ
Unsaved religionist = false fruit
Unsaved person = no fruit
Unfaithful Christian = hardly any fruit

Coming soon : What are good works in the sight of God ?
